Great overview of many important players in the tours and activities sector and their affiliate programs. Just would like to add http://www.getyourguide.com (the company I’m working for) to that list. We offer a quite interesting affiliate program as well, with commission rates starting at 6%.

We appreciate the spotlight. We also would like to point out that our tracking cookie for affiliates last 60 days rather than 30. We know the sale cycle can be rather long in this industry, and we want our affiliates to get credit for the sales they originate.

Hi Martin,

Many thanks for providing us with the updated lead time numbers…I suspect those will continue to shrink, given the the realities of the marketplace. I’ve read your blog posts on ancillaries and you present some terrific insights and ideas to the travel trade.

I trust all is going well foe 1-A, despite the downbeat travel market.

The numbers quoted for lead time to purchase have been updated (http://shearwaterblog.wordpress.com/2009/05/21/bobby-where-were-you/), but the general theme remains the same. I totally agree with your comment regarding “thinking about ways to increase and leverage their customer ‘touch points’” as there are so many points where a customer can be sold to, and not just when they make the original purchase.

We’re living in interesting times, as some Chinese philosopher might say. During this economic downturn airfare prices become affordable to nearly anyone.

And if the industry restructures so much as leaving some of its secrecy behind, well, we’re in for real change.

This is history in the making.
